Art materials have come from nature as long as humans have been making art. Together, we will explore this history with students using fine motor skills and sensory-based experiences to learn from each other and the natural environment in the sourcing of paper, either transforming old paper into new paper, made out of recycled materials, or utilizing resources from their own environment from observations during school-yard walks. These avenues will lead us into conversations about where our materials come from and explore how we can appreciate these materials through our own artmaking.
